The Press Release Section plays an important role in disseminating the official information and activities of the Government to the public through the media in a timely manner. The major responsibilities of the Section include coverage of the official programmes of the Hon’ble Ministers and senior officers, issuing identity cards to Editors, Managing Editors, Executive Editors and Chief Editors of newspapers and magazines, and preparing and publishing press releases and follow-up news releases. It provides accreditation to journalists, organises press tours and makes necessary video clippings available to channels. In addition to making newspapers available at the offices of Ministers and other key officials, the Section also makes necessary arrangements related to the visits of VVIPs. Providing services to the Office of the Hon’ble Chief Minister as a news agency and maintaining the ‘PRD Live’ app are also among the responsibilities of the Section. The Press Release Section functions every day.
